Generosity is SO good for you. It’s vital to a happy and healthy life and it’s fantastic for your mental health and self esteem. So go ahead. Do something generous and see how good it makes you feel! Choose anything that interests you and give back in some way, or look at some of my favorite charities below. We all share space on this planet, so let’s make it beautiful!

Smile Train

Every year, thousands of children in developing countries are born with disfiguring clefts. They face very difficult lives filled with shame and isolation, pain and heartache. Smile Train gives children a second chance at life.  Smile Train’s unique strategy of training and empowering local doctors and hospitals to provide the safest and most cost effective surgeries and follow-up care has allowed us to expand from a simple idea in 1999 to the world’s leading cleft charity, bringing smiles and second chances at life to hundreds of thousands of poor children and their families.

Heifer International

Heifer International's mission is to work with communitiesto end hunger and poverty and care for the Earth.  It all started with a cow.  Moved by the plight of orphans and refugees of the Spanish Civil War as he ladled out meager rations of powdered milk, Dan West, an Indiana farmer, volunteer relief worker and Church of the Brethren member, grasped that the people needed "a cow, not a cup"—cows that could produce milk so families would not have to depend on temporary aid. From that simple idea, Heifer International was born.

 Ronald McDonald House Charities

Provides families stability and resources so they can keep their child healthy and happy. Whether those problems involve how to stay near and support a hospitalized child, how to afford staying together in another city while a child is undergoing treatment, or even getting basic medical and dental care in a vulnerable community.

Paws and Stripes

This organizations pairs rescued dogs with US military veterans who are suffering from PTSD or traumatic brain injury.  This is a transformative experience for many emotionally and physically wounded soldiers. And for the dogs, a match made in heaven.

A great organization that supports wildlife and wild habitats worldwide. From elephants to polar bears, WWF fights to secure a future for animals on the planet we all share.
